The Department of Prints and Drawings holds more than 200,000 sheets, including hand drawings, aquarelles, and printed graphs of the fifteenth to twentieth century, and is thus one of the major institutions of its kind.
In addition changing exhibitions focussing on important artists and contemporary art regularly take place, as for Van Gogh:The Fields 322,000 visitors came, Monet and Camille or recently Paula in Paris.
The Kunsthalle Bremen is closed until spring 2011 to realize an extension and modernisation of the building.
