Friends of the Kupferstichkabinett
With over 200,000 works on paper, the Department of Prints and Drawings at the Kunsthalle Bremen is one of the most important graphic collections in Germany. Such an extensive collection requires restoration, scientific research, presentation in exhibitions, digitization and sensible expansion through new acquisitions. In order to support these efforts, the Department of Prints and Drawings depends on patrons. As such the Friends of the Kupferstichkabinett (Freundeskreis) was founded in 2013 to assist with these challenges.
A historic place for a vibrant engagement with art on paper
The Circle of Friends (Freundeskreis) of the Kupferstichkabinett uses the Department of Prints and Drawings as a place for a lively exchange, actively promotes research, conservation and the expansion of the collection, and supports exhibition projects and publications.
The Freundeskreis meets for events in the historic ambience of the Kupferstichkabinett and for occasional atelier- or exhibition visits outside the museum. Along with the curators and invited guest experts, members of the Freundeskreis discuss original works on paper from the fifteenth to the twenty-first centuries.
Membership of the Friends of the Kupferstichkabinett is based on membership of the Kunstverein in Bremen.
