Wild! Children – Dreams – Animals – Art

Wildness slumbers in all of us. Newborn babies are able to express this with abandon. However, with each social skill we learn our inner wildness is slowly subdued. Nevertheless, our untamed nature continues to follow us throughout our entire lives – in our social interactions, in our innermost thoughts, in the natural world which surrounds us and, of course, in art.

The exhibition “Wild!” reflects these four aspects in historic and contemporary works of art by Albrecht Dürer, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Berthe Morisot, Diana Thater, Raymond Pettibon, Asta Gröting and many more. In a spectacular presentation, appropriate for children and families, more than 120 paintings, sculptures, works on paper and video installations reveal the multifaceted relationships between wild art and the contemporary living conditions of large, small, and former children. In addition, various hands-on activities, searching games, tactile objects and adventure spaces as well as an open studio in the exhibition area, family days and numerous workshops encourage an in-depth exploration of the themes of the “Wild!” exhibition.

Children’s groups and the youth curatorship New Perceptions collaborated on the selection of exhibits, show design and the educational content.
